What is the transdisciplinary model?
At Blended Therapy Services, we use the keyworker transdisciplinary model to deliver early intervention support to children and families.
By using the transdisciplinary approach in our therapy, our Early Intervention Specialists collaborate as a team, sharing knowledge and expertise about evidence-based therapy. With this collaboration, there is a structured crossover of discipline boundaries when delivering therapy support to families.
This strategic crossover of disciplines allows out team to take a holistic approach to intervention, tailored specifically to your family and child’s needs. When engaging in our services, your therapist will not have the typical ‘speech pathologist’ or ‘occupational therapist’ title but will be a ‘keyworker’ who provides therapy across all disciplines that matches your goals and priorities.
All Early Intervention Specialists contribute to the goal areas and therapy support through our transdisciplinary meetings and joint assessments.
All of our Early Intervention Specialists have training and expertise in: toileting, communication, AAC, behaviour, play development, social skills and emotional regulation.

What is a keyworker?
A keyworker is a single point of contact for all of your therapy needs. Your keyworker will manage the transdisciplinary team and gain the therapist’s expertise to guide the therapy program your child is provided.
The above diagram shows you how the relationship between the keyworker and the family/child will remain consistent. The therapy team are still available to the keyworker.
You will notice our therapists are called Early Intervention Specialists. That is because all of our team members have experience in early intervention across all disciplines. Ideally it will not matter if your keyworker early intervention therapist has a background in occupational therapy, speech pathology, behaviour support or social work as the therapy you are provided will always be blended together. The focus of all therapy sessions is to meet the goals established together as a team and gone are the days where it is time for the ‘OT session’ or the ‘SP session’.
