OT’s help children build skills they need to thrive in everyday activities, to participate in play, school, and social settings and develop independence. This can include support with gross motor and fine motor skills, communication, emotions, sensory experiences and self-care skills.
These are just some examples of the things that an OT can help you with, but there are plenty more. Reach out to one of our team members to see how an OT can help your child.
OT’s at Blended Therapy use a transdisciplinary approach. This means that each child will have active OT involvement in their therapy journey. An OT will always be a part of a transdisciplinary team assigned to your child, meaning you will always have access to them.
This may look different for each child. One child may have an OT as their keyworker providing the direct therapy, one child may have an OT regularly reviewing their plan via therapy team meetings; and one child may have a combined approach. This will be determined ad-hoc OT visits to support their keyworker.
Our transdisciplinary, holistic approach allows for accelerated progress towards your child’s goals. Your keyworker will be able to support your child to develop underlying skills alongside OT goals. For example, if an OT is helping your child with hand strength, a speech therapist can integrate hand exercises into a communication activity, reinforcing the skill in different ways. This seamless integration fast tracks success.
